Scientific Name: Odobenus rosmarus
Habitat: Islands and moving pack-ice off the arctic coasts.
Description: The Walrus looks a bit like a huge seal. It weighs up to 1.500 kg and measures up to 1,50 m over the shoulder. It reaches a total body length of 3,70 m. Long tusks of ivory protrude downwards from the upper jaw. General colour when dry almost pink, when wet blackish.
Hunting method: From boat, stalking (with local guides).
Hunting available in: The Walrus is protected in Russia. Only the locals may hunt them for own use.
